Members of the Jharkhand Rajya Kisan Sabha (JRKS) on Thursday observed a black day to protest the cut in allocations for agriculture and allied sector in the Union Budget.
Protests were held at Rahe and Sonahat in Ranchi on the call of the Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha.
JRKS President Sufal Mahto said that the central government has reduced the allocation for the agriculture sector from 3.84% of total expenditure in 2022-23 to 3.20% in 2023-24.
He said the amounts for crop insurance schemes, Prime Minister Samman Nidhi and fertilizer subsidy have been reduced.
